Equal and just tuning comparison
Hear with your own instrument how a chosen pure ratio differs from equal temperament; this tool calculates frequencies and cents, not audio.
Your inputs
Start with the example values, then replace them with your own. For tables, keep the vertical bar separators and use a dot for decimals.
This is a practice aid, not an assessment of intelligence, ability or health. Results vary with the task and conditions.

How it works
Equal-tempered frequency = root × 2^(semitones/12). Ratio frequency = root × numerator/denominator. Difference in cents = 1200×log2(ratio frequency/equal-tempered frequency).
Worked example
These sample results use the original example inputs in the form. They do not change when you edit your inputs; your own result appears in the workspace.
- Equal-tempered frequency: 659.2551 Hz
- Ratio frequency: 660 Hz
- Difference: 1.955 cents
Read the result carefully
Results depend on the values and assumptions shown above. Change one input at a time to see its effect. A blank or unavailable result means the data does not support a calculation; it is not zero.
